This year in India, Japanese encephalitis has claimed a thousand lives. The Indian Health Ministry’s Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) has approved clinical trials using homeopathy to treat the disease. A control group will be treated with allopathic medicine, while a second group will be treated using both allopathy and homeopathy. Previous research at Kolkata's School of Tropical Medicine and the CCRH showed that homeopathic Belladonna prevented infection in chick embryos infected with the Japanese encephalitis virus.
