The Homeopathy Institute of the Pacific or HIP for short, a new non-profit organization in San Francisco, is stepping up to the front lines of public health by using homeopathy to treat traditionally difficult-to-serve populations like veterans and the homeless.  Homeopathy is a low-cost holistic form of medicine in widespread use outside the United States and gaining popularity domestically.

HIP will establish public health clinics in San Francisco to treat returning veterans with homeopathy—an approach that has seen very positive results in a six-year pilot program in the Bay area.

“For the past six years, a group of homeopaths has been volunteering at the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center, successfully treating homeless individuals, many of whom are veterans, suffering from Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder (PTSD) and other disorders,” says Renita Herrmann, Executive Director of the newly-formed HIP.

“With HIP, we’re taking it to the next level.  We’re applying for grants and asking for donations to establish homeopathic clinics to treat veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan because we have seen such excellent results for PTSD within this group,” says Ms. Herrmann.
