In his column, Doctor’s Diary, James Fanu posits several explanations contributing to the vitriolic UK campaign against homeopathy.
"...Two possible explanations for the campaign are, first, that several prestigious medical institutions, in proximity to the Royal Homoeopathic Hospital in central London, would welcome its closure as this would provide an opportunity to get their hands on its prime-site buildings.
"Alternatively, it could be a useful tactic for diverting attention from questions that merit greater scrutiny – such as why the NHS drugs budget should have tripled in the past few years to so little effect...."
